WHAT CAUSES TOOTH PAIN?

CAUSES OF TOOTH PAIN

“Aahhh! My tooth hurts!”is the ever so commonly heard statement.
Tooth pain is usually the result of irritation to the nerve and blood vessels and surroundings of the tooth.
GUM PAIN

If it's paining near your gums then there is a possibility that you injured your gums while eating food,or a certain part of food is stuck in between the teeth. For example: while eating fish, nuts and some small bone pieces can cause pain.
Another cause is the presence of deposits or tartar on the teeth and gums. These deposits irritate the gums and cause inflammation of the gums.

TREATMENT:
In such cases the use of a floss or inter dental brush is a  simple solution to solve the problem. Professional scaling can also help. You can also apply a Choline Salicylate and Lidocaine/Lignocaine gel. This gel will heal your injury and also provide you with relief from the pain. A simple glycerin application will also help.
Give it a few days to heal, and you'll be good in no time!

TOOTH PAIN

On the other hand if you think it must be the tooth which is causing you pain,
then check for any cavity or decay.
It can also be a broken tooth or a chipped off portion of the tooth. Also read about how to  identify dental caries.
If the pain remains for more than 2 days then it's better to visit your dentist and get the treatment done early before things worsen. For more information, read what treatment is to be done for cavities.

SENSITIVITY

You must also understand that sometimes what you think is pain might also be sensitivity- a sharp shiver when you eat hot or cold food. In such cases, use of a desensitizing tooth paste is an easy remedy you can try at home.

WISDOM TOOTH PAIN

Pain in the last teeth are common in impacted wisdom tooth cases. Pain felt on opening the mouth is also a symptom of an impacted wisdom tooth. Pain can spread to your forehead, your ears and neck region. This needs prompt attention and treatment.

SINUSITIS

If you have a cold and sinusitis, it is likely that you may feel mild to extreme discomfort. You may feel like you have swollen gums, irritating feeling of gums, and teeth pain. The tooth pain seems to relieve on applying pressure and biting
or clenching of teeth together.

TREATMENT:
First of all, the cold and sinusitis shold be treated first.  As the symptoms of cold subsides, you will start to find relief for the tooth pain. Meanwhile, make sure you do lots of warm salt water rinsing at least 3-4  times a day. Brush twice a day and keep the mouth clean.
